Age and Memory: A Science Project
Medium
Are adults and children the same when it comes to learning? Let's find out in this science project! We'll compare the memory retention and recall of children and adults by showing them flash cards and seeing how many they can remember.
Hypothesis
The hypothesis is that adults and children will have the same learning ability.
Method & Materials
You will have 10 boys and 10 girls aged 10, and 10 men and 10 women aged 30-40. You will show them 20 flash cards for 10 seconds each, and then give them 10 minutes to write down what they saw on the flash cards.
You will need 10 boys and 10 girls aged 10, 10 men and 10 women aged 30-40, 20 flash cards, 20 sheets of paper, and 20 pens.
Results
The results showed that the adult men and women had a slightly higher ability for memory retention and recall compared to the younger boys and girls.
Why do this project?
This science project is interesting because it shows how age can affect learning ability.
Also Consider
Variations: This science project can be repeated with a different age group, such as 15 year old students and 60 year old adults. You can also modify the experiment by using a different type or number of flash cards.
