The purpose of this experiment is to see what effects gold powder has on the growth of radish seeds, if any.  It is predicted that the larger amounts of gold will not increase the germination rate of the radish seeds.  It is predicted that the larger amounts of gold will not increase the germination rate of the radish seeds.<P>
The experiment starts off by placing 100 radish seeds into each of the 12 obtained petri dishes.  In the bottom of each petri dish, a piece of filter paper will be placed.  A mixture of 25 ml of water with 0.25 gram of powdered gold will be produced.  This mixture will be poured over the seeds.  Each pair of the 12 petri dish's amounts of gold will vary by 0.25 gram each.  One of the groups of petri dishes will not contain any of the gold mixture.  The seeds in this dish will remain as the control.  Any change in the seed's germination will be documented each day.
The seeds in the petri dishes that contained no gold germinated at a faster rate and had a higher percentage of seed germination than the other groups of petri dishes.  The germination rate and percentage of seeds germinated decreased as the amount of gold in each pair of petri dishes increased.  The hypothesis was supported by the data obtained.  Based on the results of the experiment, it can be concluded that the gold powder did not increase the rate of the germination of the radish seeds.  The gold only decreased the radish seed's rate of germination.<P>
