Global warming is the gradual increase in the earth's temperature over time, caused by things like pollution and greenhouse gases. Global warming has big impacts on our planet, from melting ice caps to extreme weather.

This science fair project was conducted to find out how different surface conditions affect atmospheric temperatures caused by the greenhouse effect. The testing was done using a surface of water, sand, black soil and carpet grass.

The greenhouse effect is caused by the absorption of heat by greenhouse gasses like carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane gases and the ozone.
