Staining Teeth with Beverages
Easy
We'll be testing five different beverages to see which one leaves the most stains on baby teeth that we've collected. We'll be using coffee, tea, grape juice and Coca-Cola. We'll be cleaning the baby teeth to make sure they all have the same color before we start. Then, we'll put a tooth in each cup and wait three minutes. After that, we'll compare the stains on the teeth and rank them according to the degree of staining.
Hypothesis
The hypothesis is that coffee will leave the most stains on the teeth.
Method & Materials
You will brush the collected teeth to make sure they all have the same color, put a tooth in each cup of beverage, wait three minutes, compare the stains on the teeth, and rank them according to the degree of staining.
You will need five collected baby teeth, one cup of coffee, one cup of tea, one cup of grape juice, one cup of Coca-Cola, one toothbrush and one tube of toothpaste, one sheet of paper, one black marker, and one stopwatch.
Results
The results showed that grape juice caused the most staining, while tea had the least staining effect on the teeth.
Why do this project?
This science project is interesting because it shows us which beverages can cause the most staining on our teeth.
Also Consider
