Does Detergent Affect Pea Growth?
Medium
In this experiment, we'll be testing the effects of different detergents on pea growth. We'll be planting peas in pots, watering them with detergent, and measuring the results.
Hypothesis
The hypothesis is that the plants receiving detergent will grow more poorly.
Method & Materials
You will plant three pea seeds in each pot, water them with detergent, and measure the results.
You will need four pea packets, thirty foil trays, thirty pots, a growing tent, a fluorescent light, a triple beam balance scale, a 40 milliliter cup, a box of powder detergent, a box of liquid detergent, a bag of soil, and water.
Results
The results of the experiment showed that the liquid detergent grew more than water and powder detergent. This suggests that the hypothesis should be rejected.
Why do this project?
This science project is interesting because it tests the effects of detergent on plant growth, which could have implications for farmers and gardeners.
Also Consider
Variations to consider include testing different amounts of detergent, testing different types of pollution, and testing different types of plants.
