USS Comber (SS-527)
USS Comber (SS-527), a Tench-class submarine, was the second submarine of the United States Navy to be named for the comber, a fish found in the Red Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, and the eastern Atlantic as far north as the British Isles. Her name was assigned on 5 May 1944, but construction was canceled on 29 July 1944.
