Transmitter Wiederau
The transmitter Wiederau is a broadcasting facility for medium wave, TV and FM, founded in 1932. Until October 27th, 1953 a wood framework tower was the main aerial tower in Wiederau. It was one month before replaced by a 156 metre high guyed steel tube mast, which is insulated against ground. This mast, which is called J1-mast was in the following years made higher to 236 metres and equipped with aerials for FM and TV. Furthermore there were and are other aerials in Wiederau like a triangle area aerial for mediumwave and some shortwave reusen aerials. Today from the transmitter Wiederau, which is property of the German Telecom Inc., the program of MDR info on 783 kHz with 100 kilowatts and the other programs of MDR in the FM range are transmitted. Also several TV programmes and FM-programs from privately owned broadcasting companies are transmitted from Wiederau.
