The Rosses
The Rosses in Ireland is an Irish-speaking area of County Donegal, bounded by the Gweebarra River to the south and the Gweedore River to the east. The area includes the towns and townlands of Dungloe, Kincassalagh , Doochary , Lettermacaward and Anagry , and the inhabited islands of Arranmore and Cruit .
The Rosses is quite different to the rest of County Donegal, with its own supermarket chain, The Cope, and a preference for Soccer over Gaelic Football (less usual in many other rural areas).
The area claims a large proportion of Donegal's tourist income, due to its beautiful scenery and its many festivals, including the International Mary From Dungloe .
It is home to many Irish celebrities, including country singer Daniel O'Donnell and former Ireland soccer goalkeeper Packie Bonner .
