Samuel Allyne Otis
Samuel Allyne Otis (1740-1814) was a politician from Massachusetts who was the secretary of the United States Senate for its first 17 years. He also served in the Massachusetts house and was a delegate to the Continental Congress in 1787 and 1778.
He was born to James Otis and Mary Allyne on November 24, 1740 in Barnstable County, Massachusetts. While his older brother and sister, James Otis and Mercy Otis Warren were both more prominent in the revolution, Samuel collected supplies for the Continental Army in 1776 and 1777.
