Magic Kaito (まじっく快斗 Majikku Kaito) is a shōnen manga series by Gosho Aoyama.

The light-hearted manga was about a thief named Kaito Kuroba, or Kaito Kid. The manga was stopped after three volumes.

Kaito Kid, also known as the "Phantom Thief" also appears in Detective Conan (Case Closed), another manga series by Aoyama. Kaitou Kid appears in volumes 16, 20, 30, and 44. he also appears in Detective Conan Movies 3 and 8. He also appears in a 'Special Episode' '"Kaitou Kid vs. Shin'ichi Kudo."'

Kaito Kuroba has the secret identity of Kaito Kid, a phantom thief. Kaito took the identity because his father's death, which was said to be an accident, is revealed to be a murder. Kaito startes searching for the Pandora Gem, which has a legend of making whoever drinks the 'tears' from it, becomes immortal. He needs to get it before the men that are trying to get it too, and destroy it. usually its only light-hearted and funny.

Characters

Kaito Kuroba (黒羽 快斗 Kuroba Kaito): He's a childhood friend of Aoko Nakamori. Kaito hates fish and is really Kaitou Kid (怪盗キッド Kaitō Kiddo), the phantom thief. He doesn't like stealing art. He returns what he steals, and likes to help people. Constantly teases Aoko. Kaito is good at skiing and does not know how to ice skate. "Kaitou" means "Phantom Thief" and "Kaito" means "Kite".

Aoko Nakamori (中森 青子 Nakamori Aoko): Kaito's childhood friend. Kaito often picks on her. She is a monster when wielding a mop. She is the daughter of an inspector who hopelessly tries to catch kid. Aoko hates Kaito Kid.

Ginzo Nakamori (中森 銀三警部 Nakamori Ginzō): Aoko's father. He is the inspector who is after Kaito Kid.

Saguru Hakuba (白馬 探 Hakuba Saguru): Detective from the United Kingdom. He is a blonde and is very smart. He gets the closest to catching kid.

Akako Koizumi (小泉 紅子 Koizumi Akako): A girl that goes to Kaito's school. She knows he is kid, but he denies he is. She has dark powers, and is "trying to make every man her slave". She is at first angry at Kaito because she cannot control him, but then she grows to like him.

Toichi Kuroba (黒羽 盗一 Kuroba Tōichi): Kaito's father. Toichi was the previous kid. He was a famous magician that everyone liked. He taught Kaito the 'Poker Face' when he was little. Toichi died of an 'accident' while performing a trick, but Kaito finds out later that it was a murder.

Konosuke Jii (寺井 黄之助 Jii Kōnosuke): Hes an old man who is a side-kick to Toichi. He starts helping Kaito. For an old man he is very strong and skilled. He barely appears in the series.

Keiko Momoi (桃井 恵子 Momoi Keiko): Aoko's best friend. Keiko is a blonde who wears glasses. She envies Aoko because she has a childhood friend (Kaito) and Hakuba likes her too. She's good at ice skating, but does not know how to ski.

KID from KID the phantom theif is always capitalized, because his criminal number 1412, which he morphs into KID. Over time, his name goes to 'Ellusive Kid Number 1412' to 'KID the Phantom Thief' and eventually to Kaito Kid.

While looking for the Pandora gem, there are certain gems he must find that may be Pandora. He starts with the 'Blue Birthday' gem and then the 'Green Dreams' gem.

To find the Pandora, the organization after it are trying to steal it must find all of them before the comet comes. To find the Pandora Gem, they have to look at it under the moonlight, and if there is a gem inside of it glowing red it is the Pandora Gem. There are 7 different gems.

Most of the time the series is about random heists that have nothing at all to do with the Pandora Gem. This series is mainly for entertainment.

Gosho Aoyama stopped writing Magic Kaito(Majikku Kaito) after volume 3, due to the fact that he started writing Detective Conan/Case Closed which became a hit instantly.
