Lockheed X-27
The X-27 was a proposed lightweight fighter aircraft derived from the Lockheed Skunk Works CL-1200 Lancer project. Originally designed to replace the F-104 Starfighter, the Lancer shared many common systems with the F-104 for ease of cross-training and maintenance. The X-27 program received almost no U.S. congressional or Air Force support. Due to the lack of monetary support, no flight capable aircraft were constructed. One full-scale mockup was built by Lockheed.
