Charlie Sargent
Paul David Sargent, known as Charlie, was the former leader and founder of Combat 18. Initially a supporter of the British National Party, he split from them in 1996 feeling that the electoral path was a waste of time. He spent time in prison in 1997 for distributing literature that promoted anti-Semitism. He was sentenced to life at Chelmsford crown court for his part in the murder of Chris Castle, a minor member of C18, in 1998. It has since been claimed that Sargent was a paid informer for the British government.
